An Evening with Brian Blessed & CÔR MEIBION ABERHONDDU

On Thursday 11th October 2012 a packed Worcester Cathedral enjoyed an evening listening to Brian Blessed, the son of a South Yorkshire coal miner taking us through his adventures. They also gave their full approval for the selection of songs delivered by the choir by giving a thunderous applause following CÔR MEIBION ABERHONDDU sending their voices and harmonies into the 7th Century architure.

"The festival of The Sea" occurs every four years and brings together all things to do with the sea. Tall ships and small ships, fishing smacks and leisure craft, round the world sailors, racing dinghies and icebreakers.

Diversification, or "Farm in Peril" - The passengers think they're on a tour, little do they realise there's a field of hay to be gathered in.

Members of the Choir Who Attended The 21st Festival of Male Choirs

On Saturday the 18th October 2008, 30 members of the Choir, the musical director and accompanist were well supported by "The Friends of the Choir" (who organised the trip) on a memorable night at The Royal Albert Hall

Seven of our choristers accompanied Côr Meibion Glyn Nedd on their recent trip to Scotland to perform at a special concert in aid of the late William Pollock "Bill" McLaren CBE Foundation. Bill was the "Voice of Rugby" and renowned throughout the sport, his enthusiasm and a memorable turn of phrase endeared him to many. The concert was held in Bill's home town of Hawick in front of an appreciating audience in a packed town hall.

Following on from Hawick the Seven choristers were asked to accompany them at their annual concert held in Glyn Neath Town Hall (17th September) obviously everyone's thoughts were with the families and friends of the four Miners who had recently lost their lives in the Gleision Colliery Tragedy. All the proceeds of the evening were being donated to the Swansea Valley Miners Appeal Fund.

Donations are being co-ordinated by Neath MP Peter Hain's office.
